  Nationality: American

  Gerder: Male

  Sport: Boxing

  Date of birth: 1988-02-26

At only 20 years old, the American boxer has a long career ahead of him and it seems he is not short of ambition. The welterweight has set his sights on winning gold in Beijing and then intends to turn professional. Andrade began his fighting life in his father Paul’s karate school and when that closed down it was his dad who introduced a six-year-old Andrade to the art of boxing. The Rhode Islander, nicknamed Boo Boo, enjoys a game of American football around his daily two-hour gym sessions which include sparring, weights, sit ups, push ups and running. The right-hander has already tasted gold in 2007’s World Championships where, along with his Olympic Training Centre roommate Rau’shee Warren, he became the first American to emerge victorious from a World Championships for eight years.
