Rookie Jamaican sprinter Nesta Carter has started to make some waves on the international track sprinting scene since debuting in Grand Prix competition in 2007. After making the semifinals of the 100m at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he won a silver medal with the Jamaican 4x100m relay team of Marvin Anderson, Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell just behind the champion USA team. Carter began running while a student at the Manchester High School in central Jamaica and came under the tutelage of Stephen Francis in 2005. He is a student at Kingston's University of Technology in Jamaica and is one of the rising stars to watch out for in Beijing in both the 100m and the Jamaican men's sprint relay team.
