Beijing 2008 Olympic Tickets Phase 3 General Public Sales Policies

  Beijing Olympic tickets domestic general public sales Phase 3 will be launched on 5th May, 2008. This document will help the general public better understand the policy and procedure.

  1. Sales channel and launch time

  After Phase 3 is launched, the general public will be allowed to purchase the existing inventory through the following channels within the time period arranged by BOCOG.

  Bank of China designated outlets (designated outlets)

  The total number of designated outlets for ticket sales is reduced. For detailed information regarding designated outlets, please visit the official ticketing website or call the ticketing call center at 952008. The designated outlets will only provide the service during their regular business hours.

  5th May, 2008 -- 9th June, 2008

  BOCOG authorizes the designated outlets to sell the existing inventory to the general public. The designated outlets will also provide payment collection and ticket print services to the purchasers who buy tickets online. For the information of available sessions, please visit the official Olympic ticketing website or call the ticketing call center at 952008.

  The designated outlets will sell the existing inventory to the general public; provide payment collection and ticket print service to the online purchasers.

  BOCOG will the existing inventory to the domestic general public on the official ticketing website. The general public can visit the website or call the ticketing call center at 952008 for the information of the available sessions.

  From Phase 3, the ticketing call center will only provide information service, but will not sell the tickets or take the payment.

  2. Eligibility to Purchase Tickets

  Phase 3 domestic general public sales only apply to individuals, and corporate purchase will not be accepted. The individual purchaser must hold one of the following identification cards for registration.

  • Resident ID Card of The P.R.C.

  • P.R.C Passport

  • PLA Officer ID Card

  • PLA Civilian Officer ID Card

  • PLA Soldier ID Card

  • PLA Honorary Retired Cadre ID Card

  • PLA Retired Officer ID Card

  • PLA Retired Civilian Officer ID Card

  • Armed Police Officer ID Card

  • Armed Police Civilian ID Card

  • Armed Police Soldier ID Card

  • Retired Armed Police ID Card

  • Retired Civilian Armed Police ID Card

  Citizens of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region must possess a valid passport or a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents with valid endorsement.

  Citizens of Taiwan Province must possess a valid travel document or a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents with valid endorsement.

  Foreign citizens must possess a valid passport with a Chinese Visa valid for 6 months or more.

  3. Available sessions and quantity for Phase 3 sales

  The existing Olympic sports inventory will be on sale in Phase 3, the total quantity will be 1.4 million. The tickets sold in this Phase will be thermal tickets with seat numbers printed. The purchasers have the responsibility to keep the tickets safe.

  4. Purchase policy

  4.1 Each purchaser can only own 1 ticketing account. Purchasers who have already created their ticketing accounts will be allowed to use their existing accounts to purchase tickets. Purchasers without ticketing accounts will need to create new ticketing accounts to participate purchasing tickets.

  4.2 Each account can only purchase 2 sessions maximum each time. The purchase limit per session is 3 tickets.

  4.3 Purchaser can only submit another order after the previous order in the account is paid off. Purchasers at the designated outlets will need to queue again at the end of the purchaser line.

  4.4 Phase 3 will real time sales, the order submitted from any channel will be processed real time in the ticketing system. If the tickets selected by the purchasers are available, the system will keep the tickets for the purchasers within the time period regulated by BOCOG. However, if the tickets cannot be paid off, they will be released for sale.

  4.5 To provide the follow up service, the general public will need to register the following information when they create their new ticketing accounts.

  • Name

  • Gender

  • Date of birth

  • Nationality

  • ID type

  • ID number

  • Mailing address

  • Zip code

  • Telephone number

  Purchasers must ensure the validity of the above information. Purchasers using the existing accounts to buy tickets must submit the consistent information stored in the system to access to the account. The purchaser will not be able to pay for the tickets and have the tickets printed due to the wrong personal information, and BOCOG will not be responsible for any problem caused by such reasons.

  5. Purchase policy at the designated outlets

  5.1 Purchasers with existing ticketing accounts will submit their account information and their registered ID to the designated staff who will help the purchasers to buy tickets. Purchasers without ticketing accounts will need to submit their valid ID and other required personal information, and then the designated outlet staff will create the ticketing accounts for them.

  5.2 Based on the session and price level, the designated outlet staff will search the tickets for the purchasers, and then sell the tickets to the purchaser's account.

  5.3 The designated outlet staff will print an order review for the purchaser to sign off. The outlet will keep the signed copy of the order review.

  5.4 Purchasers will be able to pay for the tickets with Visa card, Bank of China savings account passbook or cash.

  5.5 After the payment is collected, the designated outlet staff will print the tickets for the purchaser. 2 copies of account summary will be also printed for the purchaser to sign off. After the purchaser counts the tickets, and confirms that the quantity is right, the purchaser will sign "The thermal tickets marked with the date of printed have been picked up" and his/her signature. The designated outlet and the purchaser will keep 1 copy each.

  6. Online purchase policy

  6.1 Online purchasers must own ticketing account first. Purchasers can use existing accounts to buy tickets; otherwise they need to create new accounts. Purchasers will be required to submit their relevant personal and contact information when they access their accounts. If there is a still unpaid ticket in the account, the purchaser will not be allowed to create order.

  6.2 When purchasers access their accounts, the system will require them to submit information such as ID, contact information, the purchaser must fill correctly and complete. The purchaser will not be able to pay for the tickets and have the tickets printed due to the wrong personal information, and BOCOG will not be responsible for any problem caused by such reasons.

  6.3 Purchasers who successfully access to the ticketing accounts can select the sessions and add to the shopping cart. After the shopping cart is submitted, order will be created based on availability. Purchasers are required to complete the payment process within the time period allowed by the system. The tickets with no availability will not be included in the order. If the purchasers decide not to pay for the tickets or the allowed time is out, the tickets will be released for others to purchase.

  6.4 Purchasers can pay online with Visa card. Purchasers will have the second chance to re input the card number or replace with a new card if the first card cannot be processed. If the second card still cannot be processed, the tickets will be released for others to buy. The purchasers will need to repeat the purchase process.

  6.5 Once the Visa card payment is successful, the system will automatically send an email to the online purchaser address, the information of the purchaser, tickets purchased and payment status will be included. Purchasers are required to go to any designated outlet with their ID registered in the system and have the tickets printed before the business hour closes. The staff at the designated outlet will verify the ID; print the order review and the account summary for the purchaser to sign off, and print the tickets for the purchaser. If the purchaser authorizes a proxy to pick up the tickets, the proxy needs to bring his/her own national ID the original ID the purchaser registered in the system to the outlet. If the purchaser continues to buy tickets after the online order is printed, he will need to queue at the customer line at the designated outlets.

  6.6 If the purchaser chooses to purchase tickets online and pay at the designated outlets, the system will also send an email to the purchaser��s email address with the information of the purchaser, tickets purchased and the payment status will be marked as "unpaid". Purchasers must bring the ID registered in the system to any outlet during the regular business hours and have the tickets printed within 3 working days. If the tickets cannot be paid within 3 working days, the order will be automatically voided. The accepted payment methods at the designated outlets are Visa card, Bank of China savings account and cash. The designated outlet staff will print the order review and the account summary. After the purchaser counts the tickets, and confirms that the quantity is right, the purchaser will sign "The thermal tickets marked with the date of printed have been picked up" and his/her signature. The designated outlet and the purchaser will keep 1 copy each. If the purchaser continues to buy tickets after the online order is printed, he will need to queue at the customer line at the designated outlets. The purchaser can also authorize proxy to pick up the tickets, and the proxy must bring his/her national ID and the original copy of the purchaser ID registered in the system.

  7. Refund and ticket change

  Once the ticket purchase is confirmed, BOCOG will not give any refund or change due to any personal reason of the purchaser. If a session is cancelled before it starts, and will not take place at a later time, purchasers can apply refund after the Olympic Games.

  Once the tickets are picked up, BOCOG will not be responsible for the lost tickets.

  8. Account information change

  The purchasers can access to the ticketing accounts, and change the contact information including address, zip code, contact phone and email address, etc. The pick up location of the designated outlet will not be allowed to change. Purchasers can also send an email to ticketsupport@beijing2008.cn to ask for the change of the above contact information. Customer Contact Information Change Form is also available at the designated Bank of China ticketing outlets upon customer's request, the scanned copy of the filled out form can be emailed to the email address mentioned above, or purchasers can post mail the competed form to BOCOG ticketing service exclusive supplier at the following address:

  Other information beyond the contact information is Personal Identity Information. If any part of the personal identity information was incorrect when it was submitted, and the purchasers will not be identified when they pick up the tickets, purchasers can send an email of the request together with the scanned ID card to ticketsupport@beijing2008.cn. Personal Identity Information Change Form is available at the designated Bank of China ticketing outlets upon customer's request. Purchasers can send an email of the scanned completed form together with the scanned copy of the personal ID card to the above mentioned email address. Purchasers can also post mail the completed form together with a photocopy of the personal ID card to BOCOG ticketing service exclusive supplier at the following address:

  The information will be changed after it is verified.

  If purchasers have successfully purchased the tickets for Olympic opening or closing ceremonies, they will not be allowed to change any personal identity information.

  9. Invoice

  Spectator who needs invoice will need to claim the invoice from the local taxation authority with his tickets after the tickets are picked up. For detailed information, please consult with the designated outlets or local taxation office.
