(BEIJING, May 10) -- Beijing launched the fourth annual charity film festival for youth on Saturday with an aim at promoting the Olympic spirit and volunteerism.

The week-long event will feature screenings of excellent films; film lectures; films with the theme of accessibility; visits to the China National Film Museum; and volunteering of film makers.

Eleven actors and actresses were named "Ambassadors" of the festival at a ceremony in Beijing on Saturday.

"As part of the film campaign, all of us have applied to join city volunteers, in order to encourage more youth to volunteer across Beijing," artist Feng Gong said on behalf of the "ambassadors."

Since 2005, some one million youth from various volunteer training bases, communities, villages, schools and charity organizations in 18 districts and counties of Beijing enjoyed more than 2,000 film screenings and dozens of cultural activities.
