Lantau Country Park

More than half of Lantau Island is within the boundaries of this country park. You can spend days exploring the park - great hikes, peaceful picnic sites and excellent beaches along the southern shore.

 

 

A ferry service to Lantau Island is available at Central Pier No.6 (both normal and fast ferries available). At Mui Wo Pier, the NLB terminus has bus routes to all parts of Lantau. You can also take a ferry at Tuen Mun Pier to Tai O via Tung Chung and Sha Lo Wan.

With Tsing Ma Bridge now in service, visitors can take the MTR Tung Chung Line or Airport Express to Tung Chung in Lantau. NLB services to various parts of the island are available there.

1. Lantau South Country Trail

Take NLB no. 1, 2, 3M or 4 in Mui Wo, and get off at Nam Shan. Walk to the Nam Shan Country Park Management Centre, where you find the entrance to the country trail. For your return journey, follow the catchment to the east for about 45 minutes. There, you can catch a bus to Mui Wo Pier or Tung Chung town centre.

2. Chi Ma Wan Country Trail

Take NLB no. 1, 2, 3M or 4 in Mui Wo, and get off at Pui O. Walk for about 30 minutes to Ham Tin and then Shap Long campsite, where you find the entrance to the country trail. For your return journey, either catch a ferry in Chi Ma Wan Pier or walk back to Pui O for public transport to Mui Wo Pier or Tung Chung town centre.

3. Shek Pik Country Trail

Take NLB no. 2 in Mui Wo Pier or NLB no. 23 in Tung Chung town centre to Ngong Ping. Walk through the Tea Garden, past the Lantau Peak Sunrise portal, then make your way downhill along stage 4 of Lantau Trail for the entrance to the country trail. For your return journey, walk from the Shek Pik picnic area to South Lantau Road to catch a bus back to Mui Wo Pier or Tung Chung town centre.

4. Keung Shan Country Trail

Take NLB no. 1 or 2 in Mui Wo Pier or NLB no. 11 or 23 in Tung Chung town centre. Get off at the junction of Shum Wat Road and Tai O Road. Walk along stage 5 of Lantau Trail and head east at marker-post L036 for the country trail. For your return journey, walk from the Kau Ling Chung catchment to Wang Pui Road, where you can catch a bus back to Mui Wo Pier or Tung Chung town centre.

5. Fan Lau Country Trail

Take NLB no. 1 or 2 in Mui Wo Pier or NLB no. 11 or 23 in Tung Chung town centre. Get off at Wang Pui Road at the end of the Shek Pik Reservoir main dam. Follow the Kau Ling Chung catchment to a side path in Fan Lau Tung Wan for the entrance to the country trail. For your return journey, walk from the Kau Ling Chung catchment to Wang Pui Road, where you can catch a bus back to Mui Wo Pier or Tung Chung town centre.
