Much applauded by locals, Tianjinwei 1928 offers a menu full of Old Tianjin flavors. The food is quite good (house dishes: boiled fish, tea soup, ´lion´s head´), but most customers will tell you that the real house special is the lively atmosphere; with old-world vocalists or story tellers (no English) performing nightly, you´ll be transported 8 decades back in time. RMB25-40 will fill you up.
Delicious local flavor at more than reasonable prices. Expect to pay around RMB30 per person. House specialties include "sautéed shrimp" and "sweet and sour fried pork or chicken". The service leaves something to be desired, however, and the decor is nothing special.
A state-owned restaurant serving standard Tianjin cuisine dishes. It specializes in the Eight Great Bowls "Ba Da Wan", Yellow Crab and Shark Fin "Pa Xie Huang Yu Chi", fried shrimp "Jian Peng Da Xia", fried carp "Zeng Peng Li Yu", and other such traditional ocean delights. Average price is about RMB50 per party of one or two.
